I really dig this MARCH MODOK MADNESS blog big time seeing I like all Kirby creations and his MODOK one always left an impression on me. A few years ago I created a homage character to MODOK I named Maximillon pictured above. Well now I have christened him retroactively FOMODOK or father of MODOK if you will and this last Friday he was posted on the MARCH MODOK MADNESS blog. Part of a birthday gift for my nephew are a series of b&w marker drawings on 8.5x11 paper. I decided to post a few here. They are my usual subjects robots, monsters and an alien thrown in for good measure.
I saw a quick sketch inside my present sketchbook from the other day I felt like taking to a finished form. The original sketch was closer to a thumbnail size so I blew it up some. I am posting the sketch and final image so you can see part of my work method. The final image was created in Illustrator in about 3 hours or so.
I thought I would post a semi rough drawing from my present sketch book. The monsters in this drawing were finished with an ink brush and colored markers. I always enjoy drawing a monster or two. Maybe more if I have the time...
