Jack Kirby Day!!!

It would of been Jack Kirby's 97 birthday today and in honor of that this week I created some Jack Kirby created characters in Photoshop. I really have fun drawing his characters and it is fun to bring in some of his style.
Also there is this going on http://www.kirby4heroes.com/. in relation to this day. So check out this site and donate if you can. Anyways keep reading comics and also pick up a Jack Kirby comic or two as you will really enjoy them.

The Find

I was in the mood to create a space scene recently so this is something I came up with. I thought it would be fun to have a more modern star ship coming across a 1950's type rocket ship that is floating near a planet. All this was created in Illustrator.

Stranded

This is a digital painting I did last year with a fun retro scifi theme. The idea was inspired by the many fun science fiction films/science fiction pulp/book covers, etc. I grew up with.  Lately I have really been getting into doing digital paintings using Photoshop. So I hope to post more of this work near future and possibly sell some as prints or get some jobs using this skill.

Dark Visions

Another pencil drawing I did earlier this week. I have been really into this pencil drawing in the last few weeks. I tend to not do this much rendered pencil work. Usually it is loose and light and inked later. I have been getting into Lovecraft stores again and even listening to an excellent podcast series on his work http://hppodcraft.com/

So I am sure a touch of Lovecraft went into this drawing here. Pleasant scares all!

Marker Character Drawings

Part of a birthday gift for my nephew are a series of b&w marker drawings on 8.5x11 paper. I decided to post a few here. They are my usual subjects robots, monsters and an alien thrown in for good measure.
