PLANET OF THE APES And 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY At 50

Yes I am a few weeks or so late posting this seeing both PLANET OF THE APES and 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY were both released 50 years ago, so this should of been a 2018 post. So happy 50th birthday to both great films which one would say in 2018. With that out of the way I created these two digital paintings in tribute to these two films that I really like and influence me in many ways! Also both films had apes, cool space ships, and astronauts dealing with wild situations, etc. stuff I really like in films at times! The two films also have many differences, but in the end are both great scifi/fantasy type films to me! So below is my more straight forward PLANET OF THE APES tribute piece and my off beat 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY tribute piece. Both of these pieces were created in Photoshop.  Also there are some pictures of apes and me from Creatures Con 2018 where I had a table selling my art creations.

With just hours left in 2018 I decided hey I have not posted much here this year so I thought I would put up a few posts today the last one of 2018. Here are some digital paintings created on my tablet in Photoshop. Many were created near the beginning of the year and a few later in the year. They are a mixture of mainly science fiction, space opera and some horror.

Odds and Ends

Hello everyone I seem to create faster than I post here at times and looking over the last few years I am posting less and less. Anyways I felt like posting a few things today I have created in the last few years. The first image is a freelance commercial job that was for a job recruiter and it is a sequence of frames giving an overview of what she does. These frames were created in Illustrator. 

The second image is a HEAVY METAL cover and no I did not do one for the magazine (although it would be a fun job to do.) it was for a Threadless/Heavy Metal contest. I did not win the contest, but I did had a blast creating it, which I did in Photoshop. There were many entries so coming up with a winner must of been quite a challenge in itself! 

The third image here is just a recent sketchbook page of mine I cleaned up a bit and colored in Photoshop to make it a print. There are times I do create more finished images in my sketchbook.

 

Recent Traditional Robot Art

Once again the months are flying by and I have gotten so busy I have forgotten to post some stuff here! I have been doing much creating over the past many months for shows, others and myself. Here are some traditional ink, color ink, watercolor, etc. robot themed drawings I mainly drew at and for Sketch Tuesday and SF Quick Draw. All these drawings if I still have them are for sale just contact me if interested. The thinner drawings are 6"x 9" on watercolor paper and the wider drawings are 6 3/4" x 81/2" on paper. 

 

Digital And Traditional Material From Late 2015

I got so busy the last few months of 2015 I did not have time to post here so I thought I would present a few things I worked on in the last part of 2015. There are a variety of science fiction, fantasy, Santa, robots, dinosaurs all the fun stuff I really like to draw. The first three images are digital and were created in Photoshop. The very first image is a tribute to the late performer David Bowie. The traditional drawings were ink drawings and colored with watercolor paint.
