Jack Kirby Birthday

Jack Kirby was born August 28, 1917 so I took a pencil image I did a year ago and finished it up in Illustrator. I was lucky enough to me Mr. Kirby a few times and once even at his home thanks to my old friend Britt Wisenbaker. Anyways I had a blast creating this and happy birthday Mr. Kirby in the great beyond!!!

 

Happy Twenty Year Anniversary BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES!

It was twenty years ago today I think one of the better versions of a televised/motion story version of BATMAN debuted on TV. It was BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES. Creative types like Bruce Timm, Eric Radomski, Paul Dini, etc. did such a great job in putting this show together! In addition actor Kevin Conroy really gave us a fully realized BATMAN with his voice work! Also other actors like Mark Hamill, etc. did excellent voice acting on characters like the Joker, along with other classic and new characters in this BATMAN universe! BMTAS had a perfect mix of crime/film noir style, mood, adventure, drama, and dark humor all in a kid's show if you can believe that! I could not resist in creating an image of BATMAN in Illustrator of the style of Bruce Timm who set the visual look of the show.

The Find

I was in the mood to create a space scene recently so this is something I came up with. I thought it would be fun to have a more modern star ship coming across a 1950's type rocket ship that is floating near a planet. All this was created in Illustrator.

Rick Robot Roundup!

Last week I got my monster creations together for a group shot, so this week I got some of my robot creations to get together for a group shot.  Like monsters, robots were something I was really into from all the B movies, TV shows like LOST IN SPACE, comic books etc. I was exposed to as a kid. Most of these bots in this image were created in Illustrator along with Photoshop and are all my original designs.

This came out of a twitter creative challenge called 13JasonsonFriday13 on Friday the 13th of this day. The person who got this going was artist Francesco Francavilla who does comic book/illustration art work. He is one of my favorite creators these days. I created this image in the last month or so. The robot in this illustration was a design from a few years ago I created in Illustrator. So I took this happy go lucky seeker bot and created this planet environment around it.
