End Of Year Review

Wow crazy how fast this year went! So I only posted in January and it was of two images I was supposed to post in 2018! Funny how that works and here we are at the the very end of 2019 and I have not posted anything in between! So I will post various digital, traditional drawing/painting type images here I did over the past 12 months. It was also the 5 year anniversary of my Monday postings so I will also post a few Monday Monsters here. Cheers to you all and have a great 2020 and I will try to have a few more postings.

 

 

 

Valentine's Day Revisited

It was 7 years ago today I started this blog with an image of the robot I have posted below. This is my first 2018 post and I thought I would make it a Valentine Day post again. The last few years I have had pieces in a Valentine's Day show at a gallery in San Francisco called the lion http://www.theloinsf.com/

I will post pieces first from the show going on now and the three pieces from last year. I also will post an image showing a few of the main steps in the creation of the piece Disco Ball Head Thing in the World of Toxic Love. The recent pieces near the top in the 2018 VD Show are titled Stitch of Love (A piece in honor of a great Jack Russel terrier named Stitch that just passed away.) and Addicted to Love a sculpture piece. I really have moved more into doing many of my show pieces in 3D be they layers or sculptural. The pieces of the 2017 VD Show are titled Tentacles of Love, Disco Ball Head Thing in the World of Toxic Love!, and Love Bites. I have also include a picture of them in the actual show at the bottom of these images. 

 

 

Joker At 75

The Clown Prince of Crime or The Joker if you will has been messing around in the Batman universe 75 years now and he shows no signs of slowing down! Anyways I tend to like to create my takes on the Joker once and awhile so here are a few posted below. They were created in traditional and digital media. So keep the funny times coming Joker!

Cardboard Three Dimensional Artworks

Already September is over and I have gotten behind in my postings again. Anyways this post starts out at the San Diego Comic Book Convention in 2013 where I was helping out artist Mike Bennett of Bennett Blacklight with his booth. Well there was all this cardboard kicking around so Mike penciled some fast images on a few sheets. I then inked/colored most of these images and when some people saw them they wanted to buy the finished ones. I did sell what I had left in Oakland where I do street sales at times. Well move forward to May of 2014 when I decided to create some new ones finally and for some reason I felt like cutting out the images and layering them on top of each other to give them some depth. Anyways up to now I think I have created at least 15 or more of these layered quasi 3D cardboard images. At least half of what I have created up to date have been sold. The images posted below are as follows the first robot image is one of the ones Mike penciled and I inked last year and it got sold in Oakland. The second one was the very first of these layered 3D cardboard images I started to do this year. They have been starting to evolve as I experiment with some of the more recent ones. The rest that follow are just various types of images that popped in my head or I planned out. I tend to like robots so you will see many of those in the mix. The DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES piece that is the seventh one down was the first one I really painted and also was in a show recently. Batman Time!

Ever since I was little kid seeing the live action BATMAN and animated shows on TV, along with getting the comics I really got into the character of Batman. Heck it seems like at least once or twice a week I draw him or characters from his universe in my sketchbooks. The Batman character now has been around 75 years and is still going strong! So in tribute to that and in part I am going to be in major pop culture mode being at the San Diego Comic Convention in a day or so here are some more finished Batman images I have created over the last few years. Some even are in tribute to other artists takes on Batman. A couple of the images are even my take on a possible future Batman. The images below were created in Illustrator, Photoshop, ink pen and acrylic paint.

Galveston House Paintings

Back in early March my brother and his wife commissioned me to create some large nautical themed paintings for their rental house. So here I am finally getting around to posting them. The mermaid painting was the smallest of the group and I did it just before I caught a flight home. Anyways it was fun to have a chance to create some of these large paintings and even do a bit of experimenting in the mix.
